HOW TO PREPARE FOR PRODUCTION:

(if you need assistance at any point in the process please book a consultation via email pigeonsandthreadinfo@gmail.com)

1. RESEARCH YOUR DESIGNS  AND MAKE A TECHPACK

  • This should include: finishes, fabric and notions,  flat garment measurements, branding (labels)

  • Detailed sketch, pictures or physical samples

  • Techpack creation or template is a service we provide at additional charge

2. SOURCE FABRICS, NOTIONS, LABELS FOR SAMPLE

  • Usually 2-3 samples are necessary when starting from scratch before development/ fit is achieved

  • When sourcing make sure these items will be available for purchase when it is time for production,

  • It is not recommended to purchase all fabric needed for production before testing sample

  • We can assist with some sourcing but ultimately this is your responsibility to find the materials.

3. SAMPLE DEVELOPMENT

  • Draft pattern

  • Sew 1st fit sample

  • Fit sample

  • Revise fabric, fit and finishes until desired product is achieved!

  • Price per unit (PPU) and fabric yield are only guaranteed after this process.

  • Lead time is 2-8 weeks depending on scale of collection, amount of revisions and studio schedule

  • This final sample MUST be present during production as a reference.

  • This service is charged by the hour. A sample must be sewn/tested in final fabric before moving into production.

4. GRADE PATTERNS

  • Develop grade rules (measurement change at major points of measure)

  • Grade patterns manually or digitally

  • This service is priced per pattern piece

5. PLACE PRODUCTION ORDER

  • Confirm to P&T the size x colour x style breakdown of the order

  • Calculate how much fabric and notions are needed and place orders with respective wholesalers.

6. CONFIRM PRODUCTION ORDER

  • Deliver all fabrics, notions, samples, and 50% deposit.

  • due date is confirmed now, expect 2-8 weeks depending on size of order and studio schedule.

7. PRODUCTION PICK-UP

  • Your project lead will be in touch regarding a pick up time and date

  • You will have one week to review and return any pieces for quality control/ adjustments. No Refunds available.

  • Remainder of invoice is due before or upon pick-up.

  • All leftover fabric and notions, samples and patterns must be removed from the studio at this time or a storage fee will be applied.
